How does scheduling work with a fresh 48 hospital session?
I have children of my own and understand that babies come on their own timeline. since scheduling is unpredictable, I only accept a limited number of fresh 48's each month.
The most important thing is to let me know when youre on your way to the hospital and once the baby arrives. I can then have a general idea when the baby might be coming and make plans accordingly.
I do everything that I can to be there within 48 hours, in the unlikely event that I cannot be there I have a backup photographer.
Here you find information on the following:

What is a fresh 48 session like?
With a focus on natural light and authentic interactions, the photographer documents the tender first moments, tiny details, and the overwhelming love. I will help guide you through some poses focusing on those candid and documentary moments.
What to wear?
Mom always asks what she should pack in her bag for the Fresh 48. Depending on your style, the answer can vary greatly.
I prefer a more relaxed style, so for Mom I keep things comfortable and simple. Pants with stretch, a simple top, or a pretty robe will photograph beautifully while keeping mom feeling great.
Dad should wear something equally simple and relaxed so that he matches Mom. A solid colored tee and jeans will do the trick.
For baby, I recommend planning on a few outfits. I love the little blanket swaddles that the hospital gives to newborns and always want a few shots of that. If the room isn’t too cold, some photos of baby in just a diaper are super sweet and great for detailed images like belly button, tiny toes, little fingers, etc. And of course, Mom and Dad will likely have a special outfit that you will want to capture as well. Swaddles and personalized blankets welcome.
How long will a session last?
Most Fresh 48's are between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Each session time will vary slightly because babies are unpredictable and I completely understand that! I've been present for several babies and each of them were very different. Some may sleep the whole time, others may need fed/changed/calmed, and I don’t ever want you to feel stressed or rushed! I’m also happy to snuggle a baby, or help entertain a toddler when needed.
Lighting is important. If possible utilizing the sun/sunset is the best time to capture those beautiful light room filled images. Daylight hours may vary depending on time of year but 9am-sunset is generally the best time to utilize the natural sunlight.
Can I include siblings or extra people?
YES! SIBLINGS, GRANDPARENTS, BEST FRIENDS, ETC, ALL ARE WELCOME TO HAVe THEIR PHOTO TAKE WITH THE BABY AT NO EXTRA COST. just let me know in advance because small rooms can get crowded fast and we may have to take turns in the room to remain in a quiet & calm setting for baby + parents!
What about the NICU?
We have two options if your babe has to go to the NICU. We can do a NICU Fresh 48 if your hospital policy allows us to. As long as the NICU allows for a visitor other than mom and dad, most hospitals have started to allow this again and it's no issue! We can also switch to an in-home session or welcome-home session once everyone is home!
What no one wants to talk about. Stillbirth.
If your story takes an unexpected turn — please know that I am still here for you.
Even in the hardest moments, photography can help keep your baby’s memory alive in a way that words simply can’t. These images become a quiet space to honor, remember, and hold onto the love that will always remain.
Fresh48 sessions aren’t only for the celebrations — they’re also for the deep love that never fades. Whether your little one is in your arms or in your heart, you still deserve to have those moments documented with tenderness, respect, and care.
If this becomes part of your story, I want you to know: you’re not alone, and your baby’s memory matters ♡
